Wedding Anxieties

Some common wedding day anxieties that I have seen from previous weddings.

  1. Logistics and Timing

Anxiety: The fear of running behind schedule

Solution:

  • Mindful Planning: Leave a small window of time for each moment than what is needed in case things run behind schedule.

  • Contingency Plans: Prepare for backup plans.

2. Makeup and Dress

Anxiety: Concerns about personal appearance and potential wardrobe malfunctions.

Solution:

  • Trial Runs: Schedule hair and makeup trials to ensure you feel comfortable and are on the same page with the makeup artist.

  • Emergency Kit: Assemble a kit with essentials like safety pins, stain remover, and makeup touch-ups.

3. Performance Anxiety

Anxiety: The pressure of saying your vows, speeches, or doing your couple dance.

Solution:

  • Rehearsals: Practice. Familiarity breeds confidence.

  • Mindfulness Techniques: Also doing the practices mentally in your mind and do deep breathing.

4. Guest Experience

Anxiety: Worrying about your guests’ enjoyment and comfort.

Solution:

  • Clear Instructions: Provide guests with detailed information.

  • Mingling With Them: This helps them feel more involved with you during your day rather than just being present.

5. Emotional Pressure

Anxiety: The expectation of a “perfect” wedding day.

Solution:

  • Set Realistic Expectations: Your wedding is about authenticity, not perfection.

  • Support System: Surround yourself with those who uplift and support you, providing emotional reassurance.
